I love you Berry Much

My kids are crazy about berries as much as I am. They are delicious, nutritious and offer numerous health benefits:

  • Antioxidants: help keep free radicals under control. Free radicals cause oxidative stress in the body that damage health when levels are too high in the body. The antioxidants in berries include anthocyanins, ellagic acid & resveratrol. They also help prevent the risk for chronic disease.

  • Fibre: berries provide a source of source of fibre. When consuming foods high in fibre, the movement of food in the digestive tract is slowed down which reduces hunger and increases the feeling of fullness. This may reduce your calorie intake and help with weight management.

  • Loaded with vitamins & minerals, including vitamin C, vitamin K, manganese, copper and folate.

  • Anti-inflammatory properties: berries help to reduce inflammatory markers linked to inflammation from stress, inadequate exercise & unhealthy food choices.

  • Lower cholesterol: Berries have been shown to help lower cholesterol in people who have metabolic syndrome.

  • Skin health: berries contain an antioxidant called ellagic acid which may help decrease signs of aging skin related to sun exposure.
